In terms of bathroom etiquette, men\'s sins are far beyond the scope of putting the toilet seat down.
Studies have shown that men are really less likely to wash their hands after using the bathroom than women, and may put others at risk for the bacteria they leave behind.
A snapshot study wiped the door handle of a large office building in London and found that the men\'s bathroom door contained nearly six times as many bacteria as the woman\'s.
This happened after the Royal Public Health Association found that only half of men thought it was \"high\" not to wash their hands after using the toilet.
Compared to almost two risksA woman in her thirties
The latest study found that the doors of the male bathrooms sampled contain four times the number of bacteria on the average toilet seat, and the frequency of cleaning may be lower.
This may increase the risk of harmful stomach diseases spreading from the surface of the contamination.
Sally Bloomfield, honorary professor and expert at the London School of Health and Tropical Medicine, said in response to the company\'s initial bathroom health study: \"From our research, we know that, women often practice better hygiene after using the bathroom and wash their hands more often.
Hand hygiene is important after meeting the bathroom door that others have touched.
So putting a hand sanitizer in the drawer and using it when you get back to your desk could be a solution for men not to wash their hands after using the bathroom.
Swab samples from 24 male and female bathroom doors in the London office were collected by using a handheld device that uses light to measure the presence of microorganisms.
The same method showed that the average microbial reading of the toilet seat was 220.
The average reading of microbial activity on the inner door handle of the male bathroom was 1,085, while the reading on the inner side of the female bathroom door handle was only 188.
